Aftén Bil, Sweden
At Aftén Bil in Upplands Väsby, Frico’s fan heaters, ceiling fans and an air curtain work together to maintain an even temperature that improves the working environment, increases customer comfort and reduces energy costs. The solution is the result of close collaboration between Aftén Bil, Sthlm Klimat and Frico.
The combination of fan heaters, ceiling fans and an air curtain ensures a stable indoor temperature of 21°C, even on the coldest days.
By using the building’s existing hot water system to power the fan heaters, Aftén Bil significantly reduced energy consumption and operating costs.
Close cooperation between Aftén Bil, Sthlm Klimat and Frico resulted in a customised heating solution that benefits both employees and customers.
In September 2021, Aftén Bil took over a large car showroom north of Stockholm. The premises include both new and used car showrooms, two workshops (bodywork and paint) and a separate building for spare parts.
ICF ceiling fans were already installed, and the facility was refreshed with a new layout and a Kia-certified office area. However, the indoor temperature during winter was insufficient, sometimes as low as 14 to 15 degrees Celsius.
To find a sustainable solution, Sthlm Klimat was contacted. Its founder, Erik Gabrielsson, inspected the entire building together with Frico’s sales representative, Jan Olov Mattsson. The conclusion was clear: more heating was required.
Since a 6 cubic metre hot water tank already existed in the building, previously only used for domestic water and underfloor heating, there were excellent conditions for an efficient new heating solution.
With the help of Sthlm Klimat and Frico, the following were installed:
5 SWH fan heaters (predecessor to the current Champ model) in the showroom
2 SWH fan heaters in the workshop
1 AR200 recessed air curtain in the glass vestibule at the entrance
Previously, it was almost impossible to work; the temperature in the building was 14–15 degrees. There has been a huge improvement and the solution is very energy efficient. Now it is a comfortable 21 degrees, no matter how cold it is outside.

The air curtain shields the entrance from cold outdoor air, wind and dirt
Existing hot water is used to power the fan heaters
Fan heaters distribute heat quickly and efficiently throughout the premises
Ceiling fans push the warm air back down to the occupied zone, reducing heat loss
“We run the fan heaters at a slightly higher speed at night and a bit lower during the day,” explains Stefan. “They are already very quiet, but this way we get a truly comfortable climate to work in.”
The greatest improvement is noticeable in the workshop. An older unit previously ran continuously without maintaining an acceptable temperature. Now, just two compact fan heaters are enough to create a comfortable working climate while lowering energy costs.
We have worked with Frico on many projects. I know I can rely on Jan Olov’s expertise when discussing the best possible solution for the customer’s situation.
Sthlm Klimat
Thanks to the combination of an air curtain, fan heaters and ceiling fans, Aftén Bil now enjoys a comfortable indoor temperature of 21 degrees, even on cold winter days. At the same time, operating costs have been noticeably reduced.
With efficient heating solutions, Aftén Bil can focus on customer experience, while Sthlm Klimat and Frico ensure a smart and sustainable indoor climate.
