1000 fan heaters produced at record speed - sent to Turkey with Better Shelter

Fan Heaters

Frico AB has redirected production in order to deliver 1,000 fan heaters to emergency shelters after the earthquake in Turkey in collaboration with Better Shelter.

Over 50,000 people died in the earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria and millions are left homeless. The organization Better Shelter is now sending 5,000 Swedish-developed emergency shelters. They will be set up in the area where the IKEA Foundation is assisting with EUR 10 million in support and any surplus in the operation goes to further develop the housing concept.

The emergency shelters consist of small houses that can be assembled without tools in a few hours and protect against harsh weather. Each housing has a lockable door and a solar-powered lamp, and due to the prevailing cold, the need for heating is great. The fan heater Tiger met the heating requirement, as it is a robust and compact heating fan for portable use in any environment.

When we were asked if we could deliver a large number of portable fan heaters in a short amount of time, we immediately looked at our capacity and the possibility to quickly adapt our production in Skinnskatteberg. It's great to be able to help, within a week we were up and running for a first delivery.

There is a close collaboration between Frico AB and the parent company Systemair in Skinnskatteberg, where the majority of Frico's products are manufactured. Employees from production, planning and purchasing have worked, and are still working, hard with the rapid changeover in production.

Sofia Rask, Managing Director at Systemair:

"We are a large player, but in these cases, it is important to have short decision-making paths. The need in the affected countries is urgent and I am happy and proud that we were able to contribute. It is also completely in line with our values as a company – we must be an actor that takes social responsibility."

Better Shelter also appreciates the quick action from Frico that made the delivery possible. Sandra Englund, Purchasing Manager at Better Shelter:

"In the middle of winter, millions of children, women, and men lost their homes in the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. The needs are enormous, with a lack of everything from shelter to medicines and care. In order to quickly give people access to housing that protect against the cold, we at Better Shelter needed to act quickly. This was made possible, among other, by Frico, who were both quick and solution-oriented."

We look forward to following Better Shelter's relief effort to save lives with the urgent need for emergency housing. Our fan heater Tiger will keep the homes warm and there are already plans for 800 more fan heaters for the project, says Peter Caban.
